Sierra Leone may not seem like the friendliest travel destination, but travel bloggers across the land disagree. The beaches are beautiful and the freedom is tangible, thanks to limited regulations, apparently. There is, however, a lot of poverty, since economic development following their civil war has been slow. So: watch your wallet in places like Freetown; or be extra charitable, if you’d like.
Oh, and we should mention: Sierra Leone is labeled by the CDC as a “Level 1: COVID-19 Low” destination. For reference, the U.S. is still at Level 4.
